PTE Academic and IELTS Academic testing was compared only in concordance studies. The popular European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) has not updated the alignment of PPTE Academics to TOEFL, and the industry-standard used to define linguistic expertise.
Based on the 2009 linked report, the original concordance table of PTE Academic and IELTS Academic test scores was (published 2011). After the latest analysis, the concordance table has been revised using data gathered over many years.
The enquiry consisted of the compilation of scoring data of candidates each taking PTE Academic and IELTS Academic exams for a limited period of time. As regards gender, age, primary language and country of citizenship, the test-takers were generally representatives of PTE Academic test-takers.
The reliable and trustworthy test for academic English remains PTE Academic. The construction and scoring of PTE Academic has not been changed.
The revised concordant scores are minimally modified in the middle range, where the test is usually used for academic admissions purposes.
At IELTS 7.5 and higher, though at certain points the corresponding PTE Academic scores are higher.
The concordant PTE Academic scores at IELTS 6.5 are lower in some regions but in the same range.
As Pearson mentions the PTE Academic relationship to the CEFR is considerably deeper than the findings. As a basis for developing the test and measurement, PTE Academic used the CEFR descriptors and scales. The CEFR and the global English Scale are profoundly integrated into the PTE Academic.
Conformity methodologies are entirely different between experiments and the CEFR. In this analysis, we did not include research participants who took a TOEFL test.
The PTE Academic was concurrently planned with the same CEFR capacity estimates. The PTE Academic Exam is also robustly compatible with CEFR.
